Title: Official Code of the Week Thread
Post by: Aaron on January 29, 2005, 10:43:49 PM
Hello everyone,

As the main texts are hard to decipher and people have quickly stopped posting, I've decided to set up a little Code of the Week for everyone to try and solve. Give people a chance to figure it out, then everyone can post their answers when the week is done. Only hints upon request will be provided until then, you are welcome to post your own hints to other members. If anyone wishes to have their own thread with codes to solve, you are welcome to add one to this section.

The first week will be an easy one to start out with:

Hi Aaron,

I think this'll be a good idea - it will keep me checking in at least on a weekly basis. Hopefully it will spur us all on to keep active in the other threads as well.

Yes, this was a nice warm-up. I'll wait until the solution is posted before I make any other comments on it. It might be an idea to have a "spoiler" thread in case people want to post answers, what specific aspects tripped them up, how they "broke in" to that particular cipher, etc. before the solution is officially divulged.

Keep 'em coming! If this will be a true "Code of the Week," would you prefer to have other submissions sent to you off-list and then you can screen and schedule them?

Looking forward to next week!
Angela

Blast, I forgot what it was. PM me with what you think is the answer and I'll verify it. ;) i do remember how to crack it though.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I just didn't see any posters in a long time. But yes, a speculation thread is a fine idea if you want to set one up, it can be right in this part of the forums. Just as long as a spoiler warning is attached. ;)

Okay, this week's code is a bit more tricky, separated into words to ease frustration:
0517091307  08082615  241310  0501141213040914  1315090324

If you're looking in this section for some old ciphers to test or hone your decrypting skills on go back through the 'New code' thread you'll find plenty in there - old codes in new code thread?? - my  mistake?!
